Constantinos Taliotis (b. 1983) is a visual artist from Cyprus, who lives and works in Berlin. His research-based artistic practice focuses on the particular narratological and aesthetic attributes that define the cinematic genre as such. Closely examining the recurring motifs and idioms of cinema genres, especially from the Cold War era, Taliotis’ objective is to re-assemble those components in different mediums thus fabricating new narratives. Taliotis has exhibited his work in solo and group shows in Nicosia (APOTHEKE Contemporary Arts, Nicosia Municipal Art Centre), London, (Fold Gallery, The London Art Fair), Athens (Art Athena, Kappatos Gallery), Berlin (Art Forum Berlin, Metro-Gallery), Venice (11th Venice Architecture Biennial, Arte Laguna Art Prize) Basel (Art Basel) and Istanbul (AKBANK Cultural Centre). Constantinos Taliotis is the author of Under the Fridge’s Light, VDM Publishing House, Germany, 2011. He is currently (2012) an artist-in-residence at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin.
